    Acupuncture in Squamish, BC

Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture for nerve pain, chronic pain, and whole-body balance — at our Squamish clinic.

    What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine involving the insertion of fine, solid filiform needles at specific points on the body to restore balance and reduce dysfunction. As a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) with advanced training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mina Kavia uses acupuncture as a core treatment for nerve pain, chronic pain, and systemic health conditions.

Diagnosis in TCM acupuncture is based on tongue and pulse examination — two windows into the body's internal state that guide point selection for each individual session. Needles are typically retained for 15–20 minutes. Enhancement techniques such as electrostimulation, moxibustion, and cupping may be incorporated where appropriate.

    How Acupuncture Works

Stimulation of acupoints produces analgesic effects through several mechanisms: it regulates the nervous system, reduces inflammatory signalling, improves local circulation, and activates the body's endogenous pain-control pathways. For nerve pain specifically, acupuncture points along the affected meridian pathways help calm hypersensitised nerve fibres and restore normal signalling.

At the Squamish clinic, acupuncture is rarely used in isolation. Mina integrates it with physiotherapy, IMS, and Functional Medicine protocols so each modality reinforces the others — physiotherapy restores structure, acupuncture restores flow, and Functional Medicine addresses the systemic root causes.

    What Acupuncture Can Treat

Acupuncture addresses a wide range of neuromusculoskeletal and visceral conditions.

Experiencing Acupuncture at Our Squamish Clinic

Sessions take place in a quiet, private garden studio on Hospital Hill in Squamish, BC. Most patients describe the sensation as a dull ache or warmth at the needle site — not the sharp pain people often expect. Needle retention lasts 15–20 minutes while you rest. Most patients leave feeling noticeably calmer and lighter.

Results are cumulative. Nerve and chronic pain conditions typically respond over a series of 4–8 sessions, though many patients notice improvement after the first or second treatment.
